Increase Your Odds with Multiple Licenses

First thing is to get your All Lines or Property & Casualty Adjuster License. Then get certified with Xactimate. These first two steps are essential in becoming a Claims Adjuster. Is there anything else you can do to increase your odds with the Adjuster Firms? Of course. Additional licenses and certifications will certainly make you a better candidate than others being considered for deployment. Multiple licenses is the best way for a new adjuster to get started.

.
Get licensed in the states most prone to natural disasters, like Tornados, Hail and Hurricanes. Having a license in a state that just suffered a tornado, gives you a decisive edge over those that will have to wait for the temporary provisional licenses.
Increase your odds with multiple licensesIf your state doesn’t license, then you need to designate TEXAS as your Designated Home State.

.
Through the reciprocal process, you can use your Texas license to obtain most other states’ licenses without having to take their exams or pre-licensing courses. Obtaining reciprocal licenses will cost anywhere from $55 – $175 per state for the application fees. The paperwork required may take a day or two to wade through, but it is well worth the time and expense.

.
Getting even a few of these states’ licenses will drastically improve your odds of landing a job. The following list of states friendly to reciprocal licensing are the ones that host the highest number of adjuster during a storm related event:

.
Alabama | Florida | Georgia | Louisiana | Indiana | Minnesota | Mississippi | North Carolina & Oklahoma

Another way to increase your odds is with additional certifications. There are a lot out there. The following are the ones I would recommend.

.
State Farm
Citizen’s Certification – Florida
Xactimate
Wind & Hail
HAZWOPER

.
Remember, the Goal is to get deployed. Additional licenses and certifications is the best way to position yourself ahead of the other adjusters you will be competing with.
